Samtengang Trek – The winter/low altitude trek in Bhutan.
Samtengang winter trek or one of the easier low altitude winter treks in Bhutan. It is an excellent trek for the beginners, and can be finished within 3-4 days. We will be passing the several villages, the forest of rhododendron and oak trees, paddy fields, monastery, lake, and many more. This trek also provides the glimpse of Bhutanese culture. If we do this trek, in the month of March, we can see the Rhododendron flowers in full bloom and sometimes the orchids also.
Start of Trek : Changokha Village (Opposite to Punakha Dzong)
End of Trek : Tiki Zampa (Wangduephodrang)
Duration of Trek : 3Nights / 4Days.
Duration in Bhutan: 9Nights / 10 Days
Season : January, February, March, April, May, September, October, November and December.
Day 01.Bangkok - Paro
Day 02. Paro Halt
Day 03. Paro - Thimphu
Day 04. Thimphu – Punakha.
Day 05. Punakha – Limbukha (Start of trek)
Altitude: 2120 m, Distance: 11km, Time: 4-5hours.
Day 06. Limbukha – Chungsakha
Altitude: 1700m, Distance: 14km, Time: 5-6hrs.
Day 07. Chungsakha – Samtengang
Altitude: 1920m, Distance: 9km, Time: 3-4hrs
Day 08. Samtengang – Tikizampa (Wangdi)
At Tikizampa, where our trek ends- we will bid goodbye to our cooks, horse men and other trekking staff. Our car with driver will meet again and then we drive to Wangdi. In the late afternoon, we will visit Wangdue Dzong. Over night stay at hotel Wangdue.
Day 09. Wangdi – Paro
Drive to Wangdue over dochula pass (3150m). The drive will take about 5hrs. En route stop at Thimphu for lunch and then continue the journey to Paro. Diner and over night stay at hotel, Paro.
Day 10. Paro – Bangkok
Morning drive to Paro International airport for your onward flight to Bangkok/Nepal/Delhi.
